Rezi, how did you get into the Talent Growth program? Was there a specific sign that this was the right place for you?
I found out about the program through a friend. To be honest, as soon as I saw the details, I felt like everything I had done up to that point was preparing me for this very place. It was like a moment where my goals and the right opportunity finally aligned.
First day at Upgaming: Expectations vs. Reality. What did you find that you didn't expect at all?
I had positive expectations in general, but the reality turned out to be incredible. I didn't expect the environment to be quite this good; it’s truly a great atmosphere to work in.
In Backend development, you often run into situations that seem like dead ends. What has been the most difficult task you’ve faced so far?

Activities
There’s nothing like a bit of friendly competition to find out who the real trivia masters are at Upgaming. We recently hosted our very own "What? Where? When?" tournament, and let’s just say, things got intense (in the best way possible).

Activities
If you walk through the office on a Thursday, there’s a good chance you’ll hear someone debating the perfect lob or complaining about a missed smash. Padel has officially taken over Upgaming. While we play every week, we recently decided to step it up with our second major tournament, and the turnout was massive.

The biggest challenge was integrating Bot Detection. The difficulty lay in the fact that the result didn't depend solely on my code; it required constant synchronization and clear communication with other teams. It was only through detailed research, patience, and teamwork that we were able to find the best solution.
Who was your mentor and what was their most valuable piece of advice?
My mentor was Nika (Kola) Petriashvili. Every piece of advice from him is valuable because Nika always teaches us to approach things from a practical and systemic perspective.
What "superpower" did you discover in yourself after starting the program?
I discovered that I love complex, seemingly "impossible" tasks - those moments where everything else fades into the background and it’s just me versus the problem. This really came out while working on Bot Detection; there were many dead ends, but I didn't want to give up. My superpower is definitely "never backing down." However, I also learned that the hardest path isn't always the best one - the key is finding the right balance.
You have already completed the program and are now a full member of the team. What is your next goal?
I feel like I’ve become a full-fledged member of the team. I’ve gained the ability to work independently and have studied the system thoroughly. Now, I’m continuing to deepen my knowledge of system architecture. In parallel, I’m working on refining my soft skills through training and personal communication.
What is something you are very good at, but will never be on your CV?
There are many things, but probably writing. Besides code, I’m actually quite good at working with text.
Finally, what was the last thing you did for the first time in your life?
Just recently, I went rowing in a boat for the first time. It was a very interesting experience!
