Giorgi Tkhelidze

Giorgi’s career at Upgaming began six years ago, and since then, he has climbed every rung of the ladder - from Fraud Agent to top-level management. Today, Giorgi is involved in risk management not only locally but across Upgaming’s global branches.

— Giorgi, Upgaming is your first "official" job. What was the moment that changed you the most?

My life changed most with my first paycheck and the sense of independence that came with it. That was the exact moment I realized what it truly means to take responsibility for yourself.

— How would you explain what you actually do at Upgaming to a friend?

I’d tell them that I lead the departments that serve the users of our partner brands. Our goal is to create the best possible user experience. Alongside that, I manage global operations. A vital part of my job in both directions is risk management.

— What is the most common myth you’ve heard about risk management?

People often think that working in this position means looking at everyone and everything with suspicion. In reality, it’s about process optimization and prevention, not a lack of trust.

— From a professional perspective - if you could perform a Risk Assessment on any historical or mythological event, which one would you change?

If there had been a "Risk Manager" position in ancient Troy, I definitely would have blocked the idea of bringing that wooden horse into the city!

— What is the main factor that has kept you in the Upgaming team for 6 years?

What surprised me most was the company’s constant desire to give employees opportunities for progress and to support them as much as possible. This support is clearly reflected in my own career path.

— Which skill helps you the most in your work?

Unequivocally, good communication and negotiation skills. In risk and operations management, correct communication is half the battle.

— In real life, which process would you love to "optimize"?

Definitely traffic jams.

— What was the most difficult "invisible" barrier in your career?

Giving negative feedback for the first time as a manager. It was one of my most nerve-wracking moments, but overcoming that barrier gave me the confidence I need today.

— What does your ideal workday look like?

An ideal day is one where, by the end, I feel I’ve been productive. That productivity is what gives me the greatest satisfaction.

— If you could use an "Undo" button once a day, when would you press it?

I’d take back the time lost scrolling through social media and use it more productively. I think that’s one of the biggest challenges of modern times.

— What motivates you on days when you’re feeling uninspired?

My set goals and thinking about the people who rely on me. Responsibility is the best motivator.
